Dear Cedarbrae Families

We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Last week was another busy week at Cedarbrae school. We celebrated Earth Day in classes throughout the school and planted a new tree in front of our school. Mr. Dunning and Mrs. Leith shared the work they have been doing to support a “healthy mind” during our virtual assembly. Mrs. Leiths class shared “healthy mind mats” that students created which included things students do to keep their minds sharp and ready for learning. These included things like healthy eating, exercise, getting enough sleep and after-school hobbies they enjoy. Mr. Dunning’s class shared all the things they have learned this year that support a “healthy mind” in a PowerPoint for the school. A highlight of this was how students spoke about how understanding their emotions and the emotions of others can help us know when we need support to use a strategy to keep our minds healthy. Finally, as part of our whole school Connecting to Spirit work Mrs. Marissa introduced “healthy space” by reading a book called “Our Class is Family” by Shannon Olsen. This book helped us all understand that everyone plays a role and works together to keep spaces healthy.

Trickster Volunteers Needed

We require many additional volunteers to support this amazing experience and have created a sign-up genius where volunteers can sign-up for different roles as part of the residency. Parent involvement is a big part of this experience, and we look forward to the opportunity to work closely with our families as part of this event. If you do not currently have volunteer clearance, please see, or call us at the front office to support this process. There are some roles helping unload equipment etc., that do not require volunteer clearance for those interested.
