Weekly Message Nov. 6-10 | Remembrance Day, Popcorn, Fall Break, Metis Week, Roc Your Mocs, Casino, Fun Lunch, Therapy Dog

Hello Cedarbrae Families,

We hope you all had a great weekend!

Remembrance Day Assembly & Indigenous Veterans Day

Cedarbrae will be having a Remembrance Day/Indigenous Veterans Day Assembly on Wednesday, November 8th at 11:00am. Parents/guardians are welcome to attend.

Fall Break Begins this Week

Reminder that there will be no school for students from Thursday, November 9th- Tuesday, November 14th. School will resume again on Wednesday, November 15.

Bus Zone Changes

Due to a recent traffic review by the city of Calgary the bus, pick-up, and drop-off zones in front of Cedarbrae School are being rezoned by the city of Calgary and CBE transportation.  This change aligns with current traffic laws in the city and supports students safety.  In addition to this, there are more buses expected at Cedarbrae school next year as a result of the new transportation guidelines set by Alberta Education and we anticipate needing room for one more bus.   In the next couple of weeks, the city will be replacing the signage outside the school and once the new signs are in place the new zoning will be in place.  As a school community, we want to make sure you are informed of this change in advance and appreciate your support as we adjust to the new zoning.   School staff will be present to support with this and look forward to the continued safety for our students during the busy pick-up and drop of time.

Popcorn Fundraiser – School Council

For those of you who ordered popcorn last week, the Kernels Popcorn will be delivered to the school in sealed bags for the students to take home at the end of the school day on Wednesday, November 8.

Fall Break Begins this Week

Reminder that there will be no school for students from Friday, November 10- Tuesday, November 14. School will resume again on Wednesday, November 15th.

Metis Week – November 14-18

Metis week is a week to celebrate Metis culture, language, and heritage. During this week, students and staff will be engaging in learning experiences to recognize Metis culture, history, and contributions.

Rock Your Mocs Day

When students return to class on Wednesday, November 15th, we invite everyone to Rock Your Mocs. Rock Your Mocks is an international day to celebrate Indigenous People worldwide by wearing your moccasins.

Casino

Our Casino is quickly approaching and we are in need of volunteers to fill ALL the required roles. Please follow this link to see the shifts available, and sign up as soon as possible.

If we are unable to fill ALL the shifts we risk losing the casino, and will not be eligible for another casino for 2 years. The casino brings in over $60 000 which is essential to give our students opportunities, and subside the cost of these activities for caregivers.  This means each shift you volunteer for brings in over $1 500 to the school.

Healthy Hunger - Thursday Fun Lunches

Fun lunches occur every Thursday. Please register at https://healthyhunger.ca/

Registered Therapy Dog

Cedarbrae School will be welcoming a registered therapy dog who will be visiting the school on an occasional basis. If you have any questions please contact Vanessa at the school.
