Weekly Message Jan. 22-26 | Loving Heart Domain, Kindergarten Registration, Family LIteracy Week, Assurance Survey, Clubs, Pickup/Drop-off, Merchandise, Fun Lunches
Dear Cedarbrae Families,
We are so thankful that warmer temperatures have arrived, and students will get a chance to go outside to get some fresh air during recess breaks for the rest of the week! Despite these warmer temperatures please make sure students are prepared for playing outside with hats, gloves, boots, and snow pants.
To kick off the new year students have been working on social emotional learning activities related to the “Loving Heart” domain. This is one of the Grounding Rocks from the “NLC Connecting to Spirit Model "that we use at Ceadarbrae School. Looking ahead to February we will continue to focus on “loving heart” through focused and intentional learning activities and special days such as Pink Shirt Day.

Family Literacy Week
It is family literacy week from January 20 to 27. Please look at the attached free resources complied to support families at home.
Assurance Survey
Each year Alberta Education conducts a survey. In the 2023-24 Alberta Education Assurance Survey, grade 4-6 students at Cedarbrae will respond to questions about their experiences at school related to quality of education, teaching and learning in the areas of Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and aspects of a safe, caring and welcoming school.
If you have a child in grade 4-6, you will also receive a survey package in the mail from Alberta Education. It will include the survey link and random-access code for you to complete the survey online. This package will also have instructions for accessing the survey in other languages. Both student and parent surveys are anonymous. The results from these surveys are used at both the System and school level to make evidence-informed decisions in service of school improvement. The parent/guardian survey is now open and closes March 1, 2024.
Upcoming Lunchtime Clubs at Cedarbrae School
Mrs. Goodridge will be hosting the Ukulele Club every Wednesday at lunch recess, beginning January 24th. Ukulele club is for students who:
- Have played ukulele as part of music class either this year or last year.
- Enjoy playing along to songs and want to try new ones!
- Want to learn new ukulele skills, like plucking melodies and learning new chords.
The Ukulele Club will be on a first come first serve basis, due to limited availability of instruments. If you have your own ukulele at home, you are welcome to bring it with you! Permission forms will be sent home to interested students during music class.
Please contact Mrs. Goodridge with any questions regarding Ukulele Club.
Pick-up and Drop-off Safety Information
We want to make sure that all students and caregivers cross safely at the crosswalk and ask that everyone adheres to these important safety reminders.
- Cross the street at the designated crosswalk.
- Please observe the 30km speed limit and pay attention to all signage.
- No U-turns in front of the school
The safety of our students and families is our utmost priority and we appreciate your support in this matter.
