Dear Cedarbrae Families
It was a wonderful start to the 2025-2026 school year as we welcomed students and staff back to the Cedarbrae learning community.
Classrooms kicked off the year completing learning to build our school community and learn expectations and routines in their new classrooms. This included participating in our morning routine, Cedarbrae Connects. At this time all students in our school complete a learning activity centered around the following theme: Mindful Monday, Together Tuesday, Wellness Wednesday, and Thinking Thursday. These common activities encourage kindness, community and supporting students critical thinking skills. Teachers will share examples of this at our Meet the Teacher Night on Thursday as part of the classroom presentation.
Meet the Teacher Welcome BBQ | Sept. 11 5:30 – 7:00
We will be welcoming families to our Meet the Teacher and Family BBQ on Thursday evening. Teacher presentations will begin promptly at 5:30 and our welcome BBQ will be in the gym starting at 6:00 PM. This event will give your child the chance to give you a tour of the school and introduce you to their classroom and teacher. Please mark your calendars—the doors will open at 5:15 p.m.
Land-Based Learning Field Trip Volunteers Needed
We are pleased to be offering a land-based learning field trip for many of our classes coming up the week of September 22. This will be offered to all classes except the Grade 5/6 classes due to the timing so close to Outdoor School. Trips for Grade 5/6 will be scheduled in the Spring.
To make this trip possible we need additional volunteers. Please reach out to the office and your child's teacher if you are able to volunteer.
Attendance
It is important that you inform the school if your child is going to be absent or arriving late. Please report all absences to the Attendance Line at 403-777-8610
When leaving a message, please include:
- Student Name:
- Teacher Name/Grade:
- Reason for absence:
- Do they take the bus: Yes/No
Smudge at Cedarbrae
As part of our ongoing learning, students at Cedarbrae School will have opportunities to participate in unique learning opportunities about the traditional practice of smudge throughout the 2025-26 school year. The practice of smudge is an opportunity for students and staff to learn about Indigenous worldviews and perspectives, whether participating or simply observing. Please see this letter below for more detailed information.
Warm Regards,
Ms. Leanne and Ms. Marissa
