Dear Cedarbrae Families
We hope you had a wonderful weekend enjoying the beautiful weather again with those who matter most!
To follow up my message on Friday please join me in welcoming Ms. Marissa Haines Erven as our new Assistant Principal effect September 23, 2024. We are thrilled to have Ms. Marissa join us on the leadership team and her continued work to support our wonderful school community. We will dearly miss Ms. Vanessa who has made a tremendous contribution to our school community. Ms. Vanessa has made a lasting impact on the fabric of our school and both students and staff will miss her warm smile and presence in our building. Ms. Vanessa's last day with us will be Friday September 20th, 2024. We wish you all the best in your new position Ms. Vanessa!
Terry Fox Run – Toonies for Terry
Our annual Terry Fox Run will be happening this Thursday. Students will begin in the gym with a warm-up assembly at 9:15 am. We encourage everyone to “Bring a Toonie for Terry!” this week to donate to cancer research and share Terry’s message of hope. We ask that students come prepared to participate in this event and dress in running attire including running shoes and loose comfortable clothing.
Meet the Teacher Night and Family BBQ
We will be hosting our annual Meet the Teacher Night on Thursday evening. Teachers will be sharing a presentation in their classrooms at 5:30 followed by a meet and greet and family BBQ in the gym at 6:00. Grade 6’s will begin their presentation at 5:00 pm in Ms. Joyce’s classroom to discuss their upcoming Outdoor School at the YMCA Camp Chief Hector.
Attendance
Please inform the school if your child will be absent or arriving late. Please report all absences to the Attendance Line at 403-777-8610. Please be sure to leave your child’s name, homeroom, and reason for absence on each message.
Safety and Parking Reminders
A reminder that the area in front of the school is a school zone and that a strict speed limit of 30 mph is in place and U-Turns are prohibited. We have a busy crosswalk in the mornings and after school and want to ensure safety for all students and families using this. Also, a reminder that the staff parking lot is not a designated drop-off or pick-up zone, and we ask families to use the designated zones and street parking when dropping students off.
School Start-Up Packages
All forms must be completed online via the SchoolEngage parent portal (MyCBE – Online Forms), including Demographic Verification updates, Annual Volunteer and Media Release forms. These must be completed each year, and we appreciate parents / guardians attending to this as soon as possible.
Lunch Supervision
For students in Grade 1-6, lunch supervision is available. You can register and pay online for lunch supervision with MyCBE
Fees and Waivers
School fees will be charged to families starting in October. Online fee payment is the simplest and most convenient way to pay school fees. Parents can use their online account to pay fees or apply for a waiver at: www.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe.
You can find more information on the CBE school fees and waivers page.
