Dear Families
We hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing weekend. Thank you to all our caregivers who attended parent teacher conferences last week. It was great to see so many families and students sharing their learning and having meaningful conversations with your child's teacher to discuss progress and goals for this school year. We truly value the partnership and collaboration to support your child. On behalf of our staff team thank you for your continued support.
Healthy Community Assembly
On Wednesday students from Ms. Hutchen’s, Mrs. Yellowaga's, and Mrs.Van Twano’s class will be sharing their learning about what it means to have a healthy school community with all students. This is part of our yearlong focus on the Connecting to Spirit Model and to celebrate our school-wide learning about healthy community during September and October. Our November/December focus will be on what it means to have a healthy body. For the next two months classroom physical education, and wellness lessons will center around this school-wide theme.
Picture Retakes – Wednesday November 6
A reminder that picture retakes will take place on the morning of November 6 for all students who missed picture day or require a retake.
Grade 6 Vaccinations Monday November 4
A reminder to all grade 6 families that vaccinations will take place on Monday November 4. If you have not done so already, please send back the required paperwork, or let the office know if you have any questions.
Halloween Happenings
Students will be participating in Halloween themed learning activities on Thursday afternoon in the gym. Students can wear a costume to school on that day. All costumes must be school appropriate and contain no blood, gore, or weapons.
Please do not send treats to school on that day as we are an allergy aware school and know students will receive lots of treats on Halloween night.
Halloween Family Pumpkin Carving Contest
Time for our annual Cedarbrae Pumpkin Carving Contest! Show off your pumpkin carving skills by bringing in a carved pumpkin on Thursday October 31st! Bring your pumpkin to the Learning Commons Thursday morning and the winners will be announced after our Halloween Happenings Thursday afternoon. First prize and second prizes will receive gift cards!
Pumpkin Donations
Are you looking to get rid of your pumpkins after Halloween and not just throw them in the compost? On Friday, November 1st, bring your carved pumpkins to school free of paint or anything else unfriendly to animals. Pumpkins will be collected at the front of the school and taken to be eaten by some very hungry Highland cows. The cows would appreciate it if any candles and wax could be removed before donating.

Safety and Parking Reminders
A reminder that the area in front of the school is a school zone and that a strict speed limit of 30 mph is in place and U-Turns are prohibited. We have a busy crosswalk in the mornings and after school and want to ensure safety for all students and families using this. Also, a reminder that the staff parking lot is not a designated drop-off or pick-up zone, and we ask families to use the designated zones and street parking when dropping students off.
Fees and Waivers
School fees will be charged to families starting in October. Online fee payment is the simplest and most convenient way to pay school fees. Parents can use their online account to pay fees or apply for a waiver at: MyCBE.
You can find more information on the CBE school fees and waivers page.
