Dear Families
After a beautiful weekend, the winter weather has returned to Calgary. Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather with a warm coat, boots, hat, and mitts or gloves. If you need a winter jacket for your child, please let us know as we received some donations and will do our best to get one for your child.
We are looking forward to seeing our families at the school for conferences on Thursday evening and Friday. If you have not made an appointment with your child's teacher yet, please do so on MyCBE.
If you are having any difficulties booking a conference, please contact your child teacher or let the office know.
Secret Path Week
Students and staff have been partaking in a 30-minute walk and we will be calculating the results to share next week.
Halloween Happenings
Students will be participating in Halloween themed learning activities on Thursday afternoon in the gym. Students can wear a costume to school on that day. All costumes must be school appropriate and contain no blood, gore, or weapons. Please do not send treats to school on that day as we are an allergy aware school and know no students will receive lots of treats on Halloween night.
Halloween Family Pumpkin Carving Contest
Time for our annual Cedarbrae Pumpkin Carving Contest! Show off your pumpkin carving skills by bringing in a carved pumpkin on Thursday October 31! Bring your pumpkin to the Learning Commons Thursday morning and the winners will be announced after our Halloween Happenings Thursday afternoon. First prize and second prizes will receive gift cards!
Pumpkin Donations
Are you looking to get rid of your pumpkins after Halloween and not just throw them in the compost? On Friday, November 1, bring your carved pumpkins to school free of paint or anything else unfriendly to animals. Pumpkins will be collected at the front of the school and taken to be eaten by some very hungry Highland cows. The cows would appreciate it if any candles and wax could be removed before donating.

Attendance
Please inform the school if your child will be absent or arriving late. Please report all absences to the Attendance Line at 403-777-8610. Please be sure to leave your child’s name, homeroom, and reason for absence on each message.
Safety and Parking Reminders
A reminder that the area in front of the school is a school zone and that a strict speed limit of 30 mph is in place and U-Turns are prohibited. We have a busy crosswalk in the mornings and after school and want to ensure safety for all students and families using this. Also, a reminder that the staff parking lot is not a designated drop-off or pick-up zone, and we ask families to use the designated zones and street parking when dropping students off.
Fees and Waivers
School fees will be charged to families starting in October. Online fee payment is the simplest and most convenient way to pay school fees. Parents can use their online account to pay fees or apply for a waiver at: www.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe.
You can find more information on the CBE school fees and waivers page.
