Dear Cedarbrae Families
We would like to extend a Happy Thanksgiving to all our families on this holiday weekend. With the leaves falling and the beautiful colours it is the perfect time to appreciate the beauty all around us! We are especially thankful for our students and staff and the work we have done together as a school community since returning in August!
Secret Path Week
Secret Path Week is starting this week. Students and staff at Cedarbrae School will be participating in the Walk for Wenjack throughout the week. Walk for Wenjack is a grassroots event that started in 2016. The first walk retraced the steps of Chanie Wenjack, starting at the Cecilia Jeffrey Indian Residential School in Kenora, ON, and continued to Redditt, ON. Since then, Walk for Wenjack has provided Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in Canada with the opportunity to participate in Secret Path Week in a meaningful way.
Students and staff will be going on a 30-minute walk on each of the following dates: October 17, 18, 21, and 22. At the end of the 4 days students will calculate the total distance that their class walked. We want the students to have an appreciation of the distance that Chanie Wenjack walked in his effort to get home.

Attendance
Please inform the school if your child will be absent or arriving late. Please report all absences to the Attendance Line at 403-777-8610. Please be sure to leave your child’s name, homeroom, and reason for absence on each message.
Safety and Parking Reminders
A reminder that the area in front of the school is a school zone and that a strict speed limit of 30 mph is in place and U-Turns are prohibited. We have a busy crosswalk in the mornings and after school and want to ensure safety for all students and families using this. Also, a reminder that the staff parking lot is not a designated drop-off or pick-up zone, and we ask families to use the designated zones and street parking when dropping students off.
Fees and Waivers
School fees will be charged to families starting in October. Online fee payment is the simplest and most convenient way to pay school fees. Parents can use their online account to pay fees or apply for a waiver at MyCBE.
You can find more information on the CBE school fees and waivers page.
