Dear Cedarbrae Families

We hope everyone had a warm and cozy weekend and stayed safe in the snowy weather! The forecast looks extra “wintery” this week with cold temperatures forecasted all week. Please make sure your child is dressed for the snow in full winter gear including snowpants, hat, and gloves or mittens. We will have outdoor recess unless the temperature goes below –21 with the windchill.

Staffing Updates

We are excited to welcome two new staff members to our team at Cedarbrae school. Tammy Johnston will be starting her role as the Indigenous Education Students Sucess Learning Leader and Ms. Priya Vaidya will be starting as an Educational Assistant in our grade one/two classrooms this week.

Winter Concert

Invitations for our Winter Concert on Thursday December 12 will be going home this week. Mrs. Goodridge and our classroom teachers have been busy preparing with students for a fun and festive evening. There will be an evening concert at 6:30 PM as well as the option to attend the morning performance at 10:30 AM. Ms. Goodridge will be following up with a Microsoft Form with questions regarding attendance later this week.

No Parking in the Bus Zone – Winter Weather has Arrived

We ask that families adhere to the signage outside the school and do not park in the designated bus zones.  This has been challenging over the last week due to the colder weather. It is prohibited to park in the bus zone as this causes a lot of congestion and buses have been unable to pull in in the morning and after school, which poses a safety concern.  Please make sure you park in the designated areas and use the crosswalk to cross safely in front of the school.

A reminder that the area in front of the school is a school zone and that a strict speed limit of 30 mph is in place and U-Turns are prohibited. We have a busy crosswalk in the mornings and after school and want to ensure safety for all students and families using this. Also, a reminder that the staff parking lot is not a designated drop-off or pick-up zone. Please use the designated zones and street parking when dropping students off.
