Dear Cedarbrae Families

Last week was filled with lots of special learning for our students including a map activity in our gym to explore and learn about the Indigenous Peoples of Canada and our Jump Rope for Heart assembly on Friday.  See below for more information.

Jump Rope for Heart

Ms. Yellowaga led a “high intensity” assembly in the gym and got all of our students' hearts pumping in support of the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Thank you to her for organizing this event for students and all the families who contributed a donation in support.

Map Activity with Ms.Tammy

Last Wednesday and Thursday, the students and teachers spent some time learning about Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island, using the Canadian Geographic giant map of Canada. Our students were able to see how First Nations and Inuit peoples lived across this land before settlers arrived, and how colonization changed their lives.  They learned about some of the symbols of the First Nations, Metis and Inuit people, as well as how climate change has affected how people live. Being able to walk on a giant map and find information was the highlight for all of our students!

Thank you to the wonderful people at the Tsuut’ina Department of Education for kindly lending us this valuable resource.

Little Ceasars Pizza Delivery

Pizza kits will be available for pick-up between 2:15 and 3:30 this Thursday March 13. Please come to the school via the main office for pick-up. The kits are quite large, and we are unable to send them with students. If there is a reason you cannot make pick-up at this time, please contact parentcouncilcedarbrae@gmail.com. We have limited freezer space at the school and we recommend coordinating with a family member for pick-up. Thank you for the support.
